Mad About Science In Schools is growing!
We are currently seeking a science communicator or qualified teacher for casual science presentations to primary school students, and other audiences. In this unique role, enjoy flexible hours and work days, meet new people, and inspire a whole new generation of budding scientists!
Training and all the materials required to conduct quality AusVELS aligned science workshops in Victorian schools is supplied. Topics covered include: chemical, physical, biological, earth and space sciences and STEM. We sure know how to bring science to life and get students excited by science!
This role is sessional, and is offered on a casual basis up to 3-4 days a week during peak periods. It is ideal for current CRT or part-time teachers looking for a bit more work and a felxible schedule. Or those looking to combine study and home commitments with work.
The successful applicant must be friendly, enthusiastic, relate well to children of all ages, have well-developed verbal communication skills, and have a strong interest in science.
Qualified teachers experienced in class management will be looked on favourably, but a teaching degree is not essential.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Prepared and able to travel throughout Melbourne and regions;
- access to own car;
- primary teacher experience or qualification (not essential);
- strong interest in science and/or a science degree;
- highly developed verbal communication skills;
- ability to communicate science clearly and accurately, in an engaging and relevant way; and
- have a friendly, flexible and personable demeanor.
