Our client is an industry leading organisation who is seeking an experienced Site Manager for their site in north of Brisbane. The successful candidate will come from a strong manufacturing background with excellent leadership, communication and engagement skills. Change management skills as well as a track record of improving site safety, productivity and overall performance is essential. You will have extensive experience in food manufacturing and ideally exposure to stockfeed manufacturing.
Role Responsibilities
- provide and maintain plant, facilities and systems of work, including first aid facilities and safe use, handling, storage and transport of plant and substances
- provide information, instruction, training and supervision to employees and contractors, and ensure use of appropriate personal protective equipment
- prepare, maintain and implement emergency plans; and proactively drive a positive safety culture
- Responsibility for site production targets including efficient manufacturing of finished goods to specification, on time and in full
- Deliver full compliance, including company targets, in the areas of HSE, QA and other statutory regulations that the Narangba site operates under
- Ensure the site quality assurance program is utilised to achieve all quality controls at the site. Actively pursue and promote responsibility for quality assurance and control with all employees
- Meet DIFOTIS targets
- Compliance to company standards for raw materials and finished feed
- Ensure all aspects of the manufacturing process are managed, planned and executed within acceptable tolerances and to site targets
- Ensure accurate inventory reconciliation and reporting, including actively managing daily, weekly and monthly site stocktakes.
- Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems. (OEE% Overall Equipment Efficiency & TPH) accurately recording unplanned and planned downtime, tonnes of mash and finished feed produced.
- Ensure that employees are adequately trained and signed off as competent in their roles. Audit the SOP/Work instructions while checking employee competency
- Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to all site staff
- Support, direct and develop site staff into an effective and reliable team
- Be part of and contribute to an effective team environment at the site
- Ensure people are clear about their role and role accountabilities
- Develop site budgets for review and deliver approved budgets
- Develop, document, implement and maintain operational standards in aquafeed production to ensure operational excellence in existing and future plants.
- Plan and deliver effective resources to achieve site goals including HSE compliance, production targets, quality assurance, budget control and labour resources.
- Identify training needs in consultation with line management
- Arrange local and in-house training courses and coordinate arrangements for external courses and seminars
- Liaise with stakeholders such as C.I, Operations and Commercial management to align training approaches and programs
- Develop and maintain a long term (5 years) capital plan
- Manage and deliver the site Capex program to improve site standards and efficiency. This includes utilising shared company resources where appropriate
- Actively support site initiatives in line with the organisations programs, community links, responsible recycling/ waste programs and environmental requirements

Qualifications and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a food or stockfeed manufacturing industry with exposure to plant management and process automation.
- In depth knowledge about a number of feed production operations such as dosing, mixing, grinding, extrusion, pelleting, drying, coating and cooling.
- Knowledge of Lean Principles and proven experience in planning and delivering a Continuous Improvement plan, including a proactive preventative maintenance program
- Demonstrated experience managing, leading and developing employees in a production environment
- Demonstrated experience with production planning, control and measurement methodologies
- Understanding of HSE, QA and other statutory management standards and requirements
- Experience in safety & quality management systems
- Understanding of HR and EEO requirements
- Understanding of stock control issues and methodology
- Must have current driver’s license and flexibility to travel regionally as required
- Ability to be hands-on in both attitude and skills
- Understanding of mechanical equipment
