Sydney Regional Office
The Sydney Regional Office is the corporate office for the Company's Australian operations and is located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Led by the Executive Leadership Team, the Regional Office provides national support to all sites.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective rostering of Container Terminal Operations employees in line with the Enterprise Agreements, the Stevedoring Award & internal policies, whilst maintaining an efficient, supported and well-functioning National Allocations Team.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will be managing a team of 6 Allocation Coordinators and you will be focused on supporting and developing the team.
Key accountabilities
- Ensure control and oversight in our use of labour through the use of systems and technology
- Ensure consistency and effectiveness throughout the Rostering Automation Project while adhering to EA rules and requirements.
- Conceptualize ways in which the new WFMS can mitigate error, whilst increasing efficiency and optimization – preferably via system automation.
- Manage and execute the yearly annual leave plan in accordance with the EA, fairness rules and Terminal leave limits.
- Ensure the Central Allocation Team deliver Terminal Labour Requirements efficiently, effectively and with minimal error within current constraints
- Conduct regular review of processes and procedures to ensure they remain efficient, robust and relevant to ensuring quality
- Highlight factors which create barriers to achieving operational outcomes within the business (including outdated rules and practices)
- Work with Management to formulate strategies to control and reduce labour cost, whilst increasing labour availability throughout the Terminals
Experience, skills and qualifications
- Extensive experience or knowledge in labour operations, either in maritime, rail, aviation or similar.
- Extensive experience in interpreting, understanding and adhering to Enterprise Agreements.
- Experience with Work Force Management Systems
- Strong problem solving and people management skills.
- Experience in effective negotiation, communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and support to meet objectives
- Innovative, pro-active and results orientated with a strong focus on improvement and quality
