This position is responsible for the purchasing function of a significant Melbourne factory which is a subsidiary of a global mechanical engineering organisation headquartered in the UK providing special steel based engineered products for a wide range of markets including mining, agricultural, food & beverage, sugar, steel, aluminium, etc.
The role is responsible for –
- Purchasing of components and steel from local and overseas suppliers and expediting supply
- Logistics including organising and liaising with couriers and transport companies to ensure all deliveries and collections are managed in a timely manner
- Managing visiting contractors on site
Ideally the successful candidate will have the following skills and experience –
- Professional purchasing qualifications
- 10 years’ experience in a similar role
- Purchasing of engineering components
- Dealing with overseas suppliers
- Attention to detail, strong systems ability, proficient in using an integrated ERP system and proactive
