Steel Mains is Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of complete steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater, offering a total solutions approach to its customers.
We are looking for a Quality Officer to join the Fittings team. Reporting to the Quality & Technical Manager with a dotted line to the Fittings Lead, this role is integral to the quality output of our products, while maintaining systems to ensure conformance with site procedures, specifications and drawings.
Key responsibilities include:-
- Working closely with the Quality & Technical Manager and Pipe and Fittings Production teams to ensure maintenance of the ISO90001 accreditation and AS1579 certification
- Perform audits to confirm conformance of product and processes in-line with relevant standards and specification and ensure that operations personnel perform sufficient checks to verify total product conformance
- Take actions to ensure product non-conformances are documented, controlled and rectified in-line with business procedures
- Perform dimensional checks as per supplied drawings
- Arrange for non-destructive testing and destructive testing of welds
- Perform checks within Finishing to ensure coating and lining are within standard
- Ensure work packs are complete within Fabrication
- Follow up on deficiencies and ensure that appropriate corrective action has been carried out and that suitable records are maintained
The successful candidate should have:-
- Experience in Welding
- Trade qualified and able to read drawings
- Knowledge of quality systems or have experience in a quality environment
- Word and Excel skills (basic level)
- Good communication skills
