About the role
We are looking for a Mine Planning Engineer located at our Yandicoogina operations, one of Rio Tinto Iron Ores most interesting mine sites featuring multiple deposits subdivided into several pit stages and cutbacks.
Located in the eastern Pilbara, Yandicoogina is under 2hrs flight from Perth. Yandicoogina Fines are a standalone product delivered via a fully integrated mine.
Working an 8 day on 6 day off FIFO roster and reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be required to:
- Continuously improve the quality of our planning outputs and engagement with our stakeholders
- Seek mine planning solutions that add value and manage risk
- Understand system constraints and bottlenecks ensuring consideration and endorsement as required in the plan
- Present plan outputs and clearly articulate key milestones, risks and opportunities to all key customers and stakeholders
- Record and monitor site performance against required metrics. Escalate concerns and recommendations for remediation
- Ensure alignment between each plan and highlight deviations
- Maintain high quality and consistency in planning deliverables
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- >4years Open Pit metalliferous experience
- Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in similar role working in multidisciplinary team
- Excellent understanding of operational constraints on mine plans and designs; in particular automated mining technologies
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and negotiation skills
- Vulcan orsimilar mine design software
- Mine Planning Scheduling software such as XPAC, ATS preferred
