OK, you might be interested because you looked at the title.

If you like a big challenge, and want to progress your career than read on. 

We are talking ultra class equipment, not quite a thousand people, but getting up there and approaching 100M bcm.

But here is the kicker - it is so much more than a Manager -Mining role and as you just read, bigger than quite a few GM roles. Sure, you have a big fleet and the largest part of the role is bulk earthworks (it is mining after all), but this is the opportunity to take on broader aspects of a business, or if you are a GM take on a site of this size.

Firstly you will also have Maintenance under your direction. No excuses for availability, utilisation and reliability holding up production - you are in charge of it now with all the authority to make things happen and all the headaches that come with it too. 

Same with blasting. You control the fragmentation, casting, timing and cost components of drill and blast. 

You will also have HR, Commercial, Technical, Production and Safety as direct reports. YOU will be responsible and accountable for these functions through your team.

You will be in charge of a profit centre with revenue and expenses, not just a cost centre and budget.

You will have to run your departments in parallel ensuring they work in concert for the same vision and common goal. 

And the hardest part: -  you will have two bosses, your actual one and the client. Luckily, the person you report to is highly experienced and committed to seeing you succeed. 

And to succeed in this role, you will need to be able to lead a large and diverse team, be commercially savvy but most of all you must be able to move dirt. Ultra class equipment requires you to be efficient and effective in ensuring the gear is used to it fullest (literally and figuratively). 

So a career in mining is essential and at a senior enough level to take on this challenge. It isn't a step up for a Superintendent, this is a step up for a Manager or a step across for a GM. 

A degree isn't essential, we do however need you to understand the technical aspects of the role and be able to liaise with the client on a wide variety of operational, technical, functional and commercial aspects of the project.
