About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Automation to support the implementation of the Rio Tinto Automation Strategy. The role will assist the Principal Advisor to provide technical expertise and support for new and existing automation projects.

This role is a great opportunity help bring Rio Tinto’s future safety vison into fruition by pushing automation boundaries to deliver value with sliding scales of autonomy in the relationships between people and autonomous systems. Reporting to the Principal Advisor, Automation & Analytics, you will be:

• Liaise with product groups to help build and maintain automation roadmaps whilst supporting the Rio Tinto automation strategy
• Assist with running a central repositories of automation projects, information & experience to facilitate a group wide focus on best practices in use & deployment of automation technology
• Function as internal consultant in assessing and assisting with the implementing automation technology opportunities across all Rio Tinto’s functions
• Develop and maintain effective relationships within Product Groups whilst acting as a contact point for automation strategy and roadmap activities
• Maintain partner/supplier relationships that deliver technologies and further develop partnerships with research institutes, universities, suppliers & leading edge industry groups
• Assist the leadership of the automation projects to ensure value delivery in the operational environment and help drive the development and acceptance for progressive technologies for all end users

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• A degree qualification of at least Bachelor’s level in engineering or other relevant degree
• Proven advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills
• A validated understanding of stakeholder needs and the delivery of value adding solutions
• Relevant experience in either (A) Process or machine automation technologies in other industries. (AND/OR) (B) Mining operations and mining technology

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Post graduate qualification(s) in a relevant competency
• Experience interacting with work teams/people/tasks virtually
