The Division of Energy, Water and Portfolio Strategy is responsible for; delivering sustainable and regulated use and access to diverse and reliable energy and water resources for the people of NSW; and increasing housing supply by driving delivery of the Housing Affordability Strategy.

 

The COAG Energy Council NSW Secretariat supports the Division  by providing secretariat services to support NSW participation and leadership in decision making by Energy Ministers on policy and strategy for developing and improving Australia?s electricity and gas markets.


About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to provide secretariat services to support the Minister for Energy and Utilities and the Deputy Secretary in advancing the work of the Council on national energy market reform and providing NSW policy leadership. As part of the NSW Secretariat team, you will support the day-to-day work of the Council and liaise extensively with other jurisdictions on behalf of NSW. The role will provide you with a unique window on the full scope of the COAG Energy Council?s activities and initiatives. You will be working within a fast-paced dynamic team and be able to bring to it exceptional communication, critical analysis and writing skills. Previous experience in Government is highly regarded and an ability to work within a high volume complex environment is ideal. There is also opportunity to work substantively on major COAG Energy Council projects and policy initiatives.

 

 

Primary purpose of the role
? Providing secretariat services to support NSW participation and leadership on committees, groups and project teams
? Produce quality materials in a range of formats to support informed and strategic decision making
? As required, provide advice and analysis to assist high level decision making on new policy directions and initiatives
? Liaise with stakeholders within the Department, other NSW Government agencies and inter-state
? Draft responses to correspondence and enquiries
? Facilitate and organise events and briefing sessions

 

To be successful in the role, ideally you will have:
? Skills in critical analysing and assessing  proposals in a public policy setting
? Experience in develop and maintaining internal and external relationships
? Task and results-oriented
? Experience in a service delivery environment desirable
