ALDI Stores - 12 month fixed contract
ALDI is a leading global supermarket retailer with over 500 stores in Australia. We are looking for exceptional people who are willing to take on responsibility and play an active role in our success as we continue to grow. In order to ensure our continued success in Australia, this new position has been created to help facilitate the success of the Purchasing Department.
Purchasing Assistant
This position is challenging with a high degree of financial reporting and analysis, proactive thinking, responsibility and autonomy. Working in a fast paced environment, the successful candidate will have a diverse role and be in contact with multiple stakeholders both internal and external.
Key Areas Of Responsibility
- Actively manage area of responsibility by using initiative and suggesting ways of improving systems for greater efficiency
- Adhere to all current legislative and ALDI internal requirements and responsibilities, including controls, procedures and guidelines (e.g. Product Recall, Employee Handbook, Food Safety, National and Department Handbooks), and maintain adequate records at all times
- Ordering of stock according to customer demand and supply constraints
- Facilitate region operations through the provision of timely, accurate, and relevant information and service.
- Manage the communication flow between Purchasing and other stakeholders including Corporate Buying and Region based Operations departments
- Negotiation of the best possible price, terms, lead time and shipping conditions on items purchased as required
- Support the Purchasing Department in a professional and efficient manner, including administrative and secretarial support
Inherent Requirements
- Tertiary Qualification (Degree minimum) in Supply chain, Accounting, Logistics or similar.
- Analytical and Financial acumen.
- Flexible to work outside standard business hours and a rotating weekend roster remotely.
- An outcome focused approach with the ability to make decisions and "action" outstanding issues.
- A thorough, accurate and logical methodology.
- Being highly organised with an ability to multi task and possess excellent time management skills.
- A positive outlook and open communication style combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Being trustworthy, discreet and diplomatic.
- The ability to work under pressure and across multiple projects at the one time.
- The ability to adapt to changing circumstances at short notice.
- The ability to use initiative and think "outside the square".
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
The key to your success is your commitment and dedication to learn and understand the ALDI business model and customer needs. Ideally you will have gained you experience working within a similar position within the corporate sector to understand structure and core corporate values.
