Product Sales Specialist – Life Sciences (Reagents & Kits)

Bio-Strategy is a dynamic, growing supplier of leading brand laboratory products, instrumentation and solutions to the scientific community in education, research, medicine and industry throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Our broad customer base includes pharmaceutical and medical research centres, biotech companies, industrial, educational and government organisations.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientific sales person to manage the customer accounts and relationships in one of our key portfolios throughout Australia.  You will be required to use your sales and business development skills to grow and develop your territory and win new business.

About the role:

The role of Product Sales Specialist – Life Sciences Reagents & Kits will drive the sales of the reagents & kits portfolio through designated accounts while supporting Account Managers, Product Support Coordinator and the Customer Service team. As the champion of your individual portfolio of products you will provide specialised technical information and support to increase the sales and profitability of the product ranges.

The position is varied and demanding, and requires detailed technical knowledge of reagents & kits and their applications within both laboratory and commercial environments as well as proven track record of sales within the life sciences market.

There is a strong focus on customer contact to source new business opportunities as well as finding and managing leads through the sales team and your own network. A key component of this role is developing strong working relationships with your customers, colleagues and suppliers. You will have responsibility for all of Australia so travel will be a requirement of this role. Some International travel for product training may be required.

Role Requirements:

• Increase market share of reagents & kits business in the Life Sciences
• Ensure revenue and profitability targets are met or exceeded
• Ensure customers receive accurate, relevant and up to date information about products
• Ensure product knowledge is maximised throughout the organisation
• Manage and achieve Supplier targets in conjunction with Product Manager
• Ensure all Sales team members and Customer Service are trained in Life Science strategy and promotions
• Ensure product and accessory stock levels are optimised

The Person:

• Essential: Tertiary qualifications in Science – with a Life Sciences discipline
• Background in Proteins or Genomics preferred
• Practical knowledge of use of reagents & kits – laboratory and business
• Current understanding of reagents & kits transport requirements
• Understanding of storage and transportation of reagents & kits
• Sales and Marketing experience in a similar industry
• Previous implementation of a product marketing plan on a national basis
• Strong customer focus – strong networking capability
• Ability to work independently and within a team (team player)
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary offered will be commensurate with experience and will be in the form of base salary, commission and motor vehicle allowance.
