Leeds Beckett University is an exciting, modern University in one of the most vibrant student cities in the UK. Within the University there is a strong, centralised IT department with a remit to deliver forward looking and creative solutions in support of learning and teaching, and of the student experience as a whole.
The Network Team is responsible for the support, development and operation of network infrastructure services that underpin all Leeds Beckett University's IT Services.
Working as part of the team, you will ensure that the network infrastructure is highly available and secure, providing a quality platform for information systems and members of the University. You will use industry best practice methods and approaches to design, develop, test and implement changes to the network infrastructure that enhance and improve IT services as well as providing support to the service teams.
You will have worked in a similar position, taking a leading role in the design, implementation and support of enterprise network infrastructure and services. In-depth specialist knowledge and demonstrable application of networking technologies and concepts is required, including: dynamic IP routing (ISIS, BGP, OSPF), switching, 802.11 wireless systems, firewalls, network monitoring tools and telephony services.
Knowledge of Avaya networks, including Nortel/Avaya/Extreme SPBm Fabric and Wi-Fi technologies, Mitel Telephony, Radius and Microsoft unified communication technologies would be advantageous.
You will have a degree in Computer Science/related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience, strong problem solving ability, good communications skills. You will need to demonstrate that you are capable of delivering to agreed project deadlines and be highly pro-active.
