Detail information about job ALSPAC Data Preparation Assistant. Terms and conditions vacancy

We are seeking an experienced data preparation assistant to join the data team in the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) also known as Children of the 90s.

ALSPAC is a long-term study looking at the genetic and environmental determinants of development and health in a cohort of 14,000 children born in the early nineties. Since then the original children and their families have been followed up with regular questionnaires and clinical assessments, leading to a large resource of scientific data that is made available to researchers. Data is collected in a variety of ways including questionnaires, hands on clinic visits and through linkage to administrative and health records. It is stored in a variety of ways including electronically (e.g. flat files, audio recordings, images), on paper and as biological samples, including DNA. Recent developments have seen further family members being enrolled in the study such as children, siblings and grandparents.

The role holder will join the data pipeline strand of the data team and clean data files from sources such as questionnaires, online surveys and clinic based paperwork for research staff, link data where required, provide quality assurance, full documentation and support for this data. In addition, the role holder will be required to update the existing suite of clean data files to include newly derived or corrected variables. The sources of these data include questionnaires, online surveys and clinic based paperwork for research staff.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Sarah Matthews ([email protected]) or Kate Northstone ([email protected]).

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
