Detail information about job Professor/Associate Professor in Criminology. Terms and conditions vacancy
Working in the Criminology team in the Department of Social Sciences, you will be lead research, teaching, and enterprise activity that reflect the multi-disciplinary nature of the Department. You will play a central role in developing our criminology research and enterprise activity and build connections across the wider university and among external agencies. Social Sciences at Northumbria University draws together the disciplines of Criminology, Sociology, International Relations, International Development, Journalism, Communication and Media. The department has a vibrant research community and a very strong teaching and learning culture (with five of the programmes aligned to the department achieving 100% in the 2016 National Student Survey). We have enjoyed strong recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Applications are invited from all areas of criminology, but we particularly welcome applications from those who use innovative methodologies to support their research and teaching interests. Experience of working directly with external agencies, either in teaching or research, would be advantageous but is not essential.
As a key member of the criminology team you will be responsible for the development, organisation and delivery of curriculum content, within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the department. You will also contribute to the strong research agenda of the Department, through research activity and engaging in relevant collaborative research networks and bidding activity.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Sarah Soppitt, Head of Department of Social Sciences on 0191 227 3456
