The UCD School of Medicine is Ireland’s leading research-intensive medical school and its clinical partner, St. Vincent’s University Hospital is a national healthcare leader within Ireland’s largest acute hospital group. Ireland East Hospital Group.

The UCD School of Medicine has an international reputation in infectious disease research with particular expertise in molecular characterisation of bacterial and viral infection. It is home to the National Virus Reference Laboratory, which has provided a national diagnostic service for over forty years, and to the UCD Centre for Research in Infectious Disease.

Infection management in patient care is of critical importance to St. Vincent’s University Hospital which has extensive clinical microbiology and infectious diseases clinical services.

Applications are now invited for the role of Professor of Microbial Diseases at the UCD School of Medicine and Consultant in Microbiology or Infectious Disease at St. Vincent’s University Hospital. This is a permanent senior leadership role with substantial clinical and academic commitments.

This is a joint appointment on a Type B Consultant Contract by University College Dublin (19.5 hours per week) and St. Vincent’s University Hospital (19.5 hours per week).
