Department of PharmacologyMansfield Road
We are seeking a self-motivated IT Officer to provide ICT support for research programmes in the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit (www.mrcbndu.ox.ac.uk).
The BNDU is uniquely multidisciplinary and operates over two sites at the University of Oxford (Department of Pharmacology and Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences). The Unit aims to understand the interactions between nerve cells that are critical for brain functions and to exploit these to develop novel therapies for Parkinson’s disease and memory disorders.
You will play a crucial role managing and maintaining the Unit’s IT systems, networks and equipment and providing advice and local support for Unit members. You will help to develop and implement IT strategies and policies and as required will liaise with other IT staff across the University.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you should have high-level understanding, experience and technical competence across a broad range of computing areas including user support, hardware, server operating systems, Windows and Linux networking and data management. You should demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving, the ability to work independently and to communicate effectively. Experience of an academic environment would be an advantage.
This part-time post (0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours per week) is available now and will be based in the Unit’s main site in Pharmacology. The post is fixed-term for up to 30 months (latest end date 31 March 2020), externally funded by the MRC.
This post is part of a pilot scheme testing a new Supporting Evidence form in place of the more usual ‘supporting statement’. Please ensure that you carefully read the How to Apply section provided in the Job Description, which you can download below along with the required Supporting Evidence form.
Enquiries can be sent to: [email protected].
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 13 September 2017. Interviews to be held 25 or 26 September 2017.
