Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position sponsored by Cambridge Display Technology Ltd.
The post will involve the fabrication and study of novel functional nanomaterials for applications in mechanical energy harvesting, and building of prototype devices.
Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant subject and a strong background in nanoscale fabrication and characterization methods, with an emphasis on ferroelectric, piezoelectric and triboelectric materials and nanogenerators.
Candidates should have a detailed understanding of structure-property effects in ferroelectric/piezoelectric nanomaterials and their applicability in triboelectric devices in particular, strong background in processing and fabrication of nanostructured devices (including a wide variety of scalable physical and chemical deposition techniques), expertise in the use of advanced analytical equipment such as x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, piezo-response force microscopy, Kelvin probe force microscopy.
Candidates should have experience in the development and fabrication of prototype devices for mechanical energy harvesting applications, including piezoelectric and triboelectric nanogenerators.
Experience in mechanical and electromechanical characterization techniques, modelling and lithography is also desirable.
