PROCAT is a specialist college which has been established to meet the workforce development needs of businesses which operate in sectors which are critical to the UK economy. This includes advanced apprenticeships to secure a pipeline of new talent, higher and degree apprenticeships to support advanced engineering capability and bespoke training solutions to develop the expertise and skills of the existing workforce. Due to a period of growth we have an opportunity for Head of Quality to co-ordinate, monitor and performance manage quality compliance and quality improvement across the PROCAT group and its sub-contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading PROCAT’s drive for quality improvement that assures student success
  • Providing expertise and guidance on the development, implementation and compliance of quality systems across all provision
  • Leading on the monitoring, auditing and reporting of quality improvement to ensure the induction, continuing professional development and teaching, learning and assessment have a positive impact on student recruitment, retention, attendance and success
  • Proposing and managing quality initiatives including where necessary performance management
  • Leading the quality cycle for sub contracted provision to ensure it meets the expected standards, success rates and customer experience
  • Champion PROCAT’s ambition to become an outstanding provider

 Quality Measures / Outputs:

  • Ensure a minimum of 80% of teaching and learning sessions are good or above
  • Ensure attendance is consistently achieving 85%
  • Ensure success rates across the provision remain above national average and improve timely success to ensure the college is working towards its 10% above national average target
  • Maintain good retention and achievement rates above national average across the provision
  • Raise success rates in English and mathematics to improve outcomes for students
  • Achieve 90% satisfaction from employers and students

 How outputs will be achieved:

  • Develop, improve and implement processes, procedures and systems that continually improve organisational performance
  • Lead on all aspects of quality assurance and quality improvement across all areas of provision
  • Lead on internal and external verification, moderation and inspections including Ofsted, MATRIX and awarding bodies
  • Undertake audits, monitoring and reporting on PROCAT performance including progress against the strategic and operational business plans, benchmarking against national and other measures, analysing the data and setting down corrective actions where required. Areas of reporting and monitoring include collating whole college data on: 
    • student recruitment
    • student retention
    • student attendance
    • student progress and attainment
    • student success
    • student entry into sustainable work
    • student destination
    • staff performance
    • student and employer satisfaction
    • other quality measures
  • Identifying, developing and implementing best practice across the college
  • Keeping up to date and adapting practice according to changes in government policy, Ofsted outcomes and statements, FE Commissioner’s reports and statements and other third party information ensuring PROCAT is ahead of change and leading in quality improvement
  • Championing outstanding quality throughout the College and all its activities identifying others across the college who can also be quality ambassadors
  • Leading the development and the implementation of quality initiatives including monitoring and reporting outcomes
  • Production of the Annual Self-Assessment Report and leading teams throughout the year in the updating and completion of the report
  • Closely managing the quality of sub contracted provision, ensuring that sub-contractors are challenged and supported in improving the quality of provision (including production of a SAR and QUIP) and customer experience
  • Ensuring that where PROCAT is a sub-contractor that required quality measures are understood, adhered to and reported on as per the service level agreement
  • Management and development of the Quality Assurance System including monitoring and analysis of Teaching & Learning Observations, Student Voice, and Employer Surveys
  • Train and develop staff to support the continual improvement of practice across the college and with sub-contractors
  • Plan and manage external inspections relating to quality
  • Oversee relationships with awarding bodies and any quality issues arising

 Safeguarding responsibilities (all staff)

  • To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • To be familiar and act in accordance with PROCAT’s safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Ensure that PROCAT provides a safe, fair and respectful work and learning environment

 Health and Safety responsibilities (all staff)

  • Responsible for your own health and safety in the workplace and that of other staff, students and visitors to our sites
  • Ensure you are familiar and compliant  with Risk Assessments relevant to your department
  • Challenge and report any dangerous behaviour to the Health and Safety Team
  • Report any accidents or near misses ensuring relevant paperwork is completed in timely fashion and submitted to the Health and Safety Team
  • Maintenance of your Personal Protection Equipment
