About the role:You will be joining our Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences, a highly rated department with excellent resources for teaching and research. We are a forward-looking and enthusiastic department with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching. Our research was rated as ‘world leading’ in terms of its quality and impact in the most recent REF2014. The department hosts its own research laboratories and research groups and benefits from use of the facilities in our state of the art, University Eye Clinic.

With a background in optometry or ophthalmic dispensing you will have a PhD in Optometry, Vision Sciences or related field, or be nearing completion. Ideally you will have an interest in ocular disease and contact lenses, though interests in other areas are also welcomed. You will demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research that complements the Department’s strengths. You will have experience teaching in a higher education setting and will contribute to the broad range of the Department's activities.
