Detail information about job Research Associate in Virtual Realities - Immersive Documentary Encounters. Terms and conditions vacancy
Based in the world leading research team in the Bristol Interaction Group within the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol this is an exciting opportunity to join an interdisciplinary team investigating the use of Virtual Reality (VR) for non-fiction. Collaborating with academics from the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath and Digital Cultures Research Centre at the University West of England, as well as partners including the BBC R&D, Guardian, Aardman Animations and MIT DocLab, this is a great moment to join this team exploring the affordances of VR as a new medium for non-fiction documentary.
You will be working with existing non-fiction VR pieces, as well as working alongside producers to create exiting new non-fiction VR path-finding prototypes that push the boundaries of VR development, to evaluate user experience, immersion, varying platform capabilities, and ethical issues to share best practices. You will need to author and present publications on the research findings from the project.
Applicants will need to have completed a PhD in Computer Science (or closely related discipline) and have good experience of user centered design and user testing, VR development and VR programming.
This post is offered on a full time, open ended contract with funding up to 30th December 2019.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place week commencing 18th September 2017.
