We seek a highly skilled Post-Doctoral Researcher to work on a cutting-edge research project on the topic of sustainable energy innovation and the emergence of new business ecosystems. This is a three-year project funded by the Alliance MBS Strategic Research Investment Fund. You will work together with Prof. Jonatan Pinkse and Dr. Eva Niesten in a project team based in the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research. The goal of the project is to gain a deeper understanding of the future of the European energy industry from a business perspective, as it is currently experiencing rapid change. The project will analyse how energy companies’ business ecosystems are changing rapidly due to the emergence of sustainable energy innovations such as renewable energy (solar, wind, etc.) and smart grid technologies.

You will build and analyse a unique database on business ecosystems in the European energy industry. You will need to have extensive knowledge of econometric techniques, and should spend time on acquiring up-to-date knowledge of complementary quantitative skills. In addition, the researcher will contribute to co-authoring publications for high-ranking (management and/or innovation) journals. The researcher should have knowledge of the literature in the fields of strategic management, sustainable energy and innovation studies, and be able to make relevant theoretical and rigorous empirical contributions in these fields. A demonstrated ability to publish in relevant journals is therefore preferred. Finally, the researcher is expected to contribute to organizing workshops, communicating about the project, and the developing grant proposals related to this project.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as male candidates are currently under-represented at this level in this area, we would particularly welcome applications from men. All appointments will be made on merit.
