We are seeking an excellent senior administrator, project manager to support the Clinical Epidemiology Lead, Dr Emanuele Di Angelantonio, across his broad range of responsibilities. Dr Di Angelantonio is a senior scientist in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU) in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care; the Deputy Director of the NIHR Blood and Transplant Research Unit (BTRU) in Donor Health and Genomics and; an honorary consultant for NHS Blood and Transplant. 

You will apply your skills to assisting in the coordination of the portfolio of large-scale epidemiological studies led or co-led by Dr Di Angelantonio. The key responsibilities of this role will be to support the administration and progression of these grants and research activities on behalf of the Clinical Epidemiology Lead, ensuring the grant/project objectives are progressed in a timely manner and the key project objectives are met. You will proactive administrative support, including diary management, act as a liaison on behalf of the Dr Di Angelantonio with members of the University, NHS and various national and international collaborators and funding bodies. You will be expected to manage email correspondence, drafting correspondence and documentation, including scientific and financial reports to funding bodies, on his behalf.  Assist in the administration of various large studies.

Main duties and responsibilities of the job:

Day to day project administration and management of the portfolio of scientific projects:

  • Maintaining complete overview of scientific priorities, studies and related administrative tasks.
  • Collating and disseminating information on grant progress and managing time lines.
  • All aspects of administration to support the various studies.
  • Maintaining an overview of financial budgets, providing updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaising with international collaborators (scientific and administrative) to ensure cohesion/alignment within projects.

General administrative support:

  • Diary and email management.
  • General meeting booking and action progression.
  • Proactively planning schedules in line with project and other deadline requirements.
  • Travel and expenses.
  • Other ad-hoc administrative tasks as required to support the department.

Coordinate scientific management meetings and various seminar arrangements.

Assist in compiling complex grant application documents, progress reports, presentations and other ad hoc documents for various funding bodies, internal and external meetings and committees.

Managing communications with other senior members of the University, CEU and the various external partners and funding bodies.

Attending project meetings and ensuring that action points are recorded, followed up and concluded in a timely manner.

Skills and Qualifications:

Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate extensive experience at senior administration/project management level.  With the ability to project manage large and complex grants, from scientific, financial and administrative perspectives and be able to work on own initiative to plan and prioritise activities.
