Brief Description of the Role:Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you want to deliver research that makes healthcare safer? Are you enthusiastic, highly organised, self-motivated and a great communicator?

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to take on the role of Research Programme Manager for the Yorkshire and Humber, Patient Safety Translational Research Centre (YH PSTRC). The YH PSTRC is a new £3 million national centre for patient safety research funded by the NIHR, which is based on a long-standing collaboration between the Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and the Universities of Leeds and Bradford. The aim of the centre is to ‘deliver research that makes care safer’. For further information click here.

The post holder will take a lead role in managing this five year programme of work in collaboration with academic, clinical and patient groups across the Yorkshire and Humber region. As Programme Manager for the centre, you will liaise with colleagues within the two other NIHR patient safety translational research centres and develop the profile of the YH PSTRC as a centre for excellence in patient safety research.

The successful applicant will be educated to post-graduate level e.g. PhD or equivalent experience/qualification in a health or social science research area, have experience of working at a managerial level and the ability to provide strategic leadership for the research programme. The successful candidate will also have a significant role in developing and managing the communication strategy for the programme. Experience of research in patient safety would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will join our team, which sits within a wider research network: the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research group (YQSR group). This dynamic group of researchers conducts high quality, rigorous and applied research to develop and evaluate innovative solutions to patient safety problems.  Over the past decade the YQSR group has established a national and international reputation for working collaboratively across institutions and disciplines to address key, clinically relevant questions in patient safety.

The post will be based within the Bradford Institute for Health Research, with easy transport links to elsewhere in the region.
