Our research focuses on some of the most fundamental issues facing humankind today. Fifty percent of our organisation is made up of Professional Services support staff that partner closely with the Academic colleges to ensure we achieve our strategy and vision.

Ranked among the top 200 universities in the world, Exeter has become one of the UK's fastest growing and fastest rising research universities. We are investing in our Directorate of Innovation, Impact and Business to drive forward our already strong relationships with organisations and businesses; grow our potential for significant impact; and galvanise regional innovation.

We need a highly motivated professional to develop and manage mutually beneficial relationships between academic teams and industrial partners via Innovate UK's Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme and in support of broader commercialisation opportunities arising from University research.

You will seek to develop and maintain long-term and relevant industry and academic links as the client manager for the University and work with companies to establish long term, effective partnerships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify the nature of the company's knowledge need, and to work with their management to agree the scope of a suitable KTP concept or other business collaboration as appropriate.
  • Assess and select potential company partners for KTPs, with regard to their financial, technical and organisational suitability.
  • Evaluate, develop and create value from commercial opportunities arising from University research with an emphasis on those emerging from the Manufacturing, Materials, Infrastructure and Energy theme.
  • Prepare, co-ordinate, guide and be responsible for proposal submission in accordance with Innovate UK requirements.
  • Initiate and take responsibility for the joint recruitment of KTP Associates adhering to university HR policy.
  • For each partnership, negotiate and agree Intellectual Property and contractual terms.
  • Set up, manage and maintain awarded KTPs, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of all aspects of the project.
  • Manage relationships across the various stakeholders within individual partnerships.
  • Maintain control of and manage KTP budgets, liaising with partnerships to inform and advise on KTP financial practice.

The University offers some fantastic benefits including 41 days leave per year, options for flexible working, numerous discounts at leading retailers, an onsite gym, free yoga and pilates, a cycle to work scheme and a stunning campus environment in the heart of Exeter.
