Grade 7 - Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,301 to £38,183. With potential progression once in post to £40,523 a year.

Following the approval of a capital development programme that exceeds £600 million in the next five years with projects from Edgbaston to Dubai, we are currently seeking to recruit several highly motivated new members of our Estates team Are you interested in an excellent opportunity to join a successful Estates Team at a leading Russell Group University?

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will provide support to the Senior Project Manager / Head of Capital Programme in the provision of an effective and efficient project management service which gives value for money and is responsive to users needs. The post holder will be directly responsible for the management and control of major capital projects, acting as the client’s representative in order to ensure compliance with the brief, timescale, budgetary and quality requirements. This will involve leading and directing design teams to provide the successful delivery of such major capital projects.

Qualifications:

  • The post holder will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be a corporate member of either the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Builders, Royal Institute of British Architects, Institute of Mechanical, Electrical Engineers or the Institute of Building Services. A qualification in Project Management would be desirable.
  • Grade C GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English Language is essential. 

Experience:

  • Demonstrate extensive experience and achievement in the ability to project manage substantial schemes to the desired time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Detailed experience of working within a multi-disciplinary environment in an organisation with a diverse property portfolio is also required.
  • A detailed knowledge of current construction, engineering plant issues, contracts and procurement methods is essential. Experience in option appraisal, risk and value management techniques would be a distinct advantage 

Personal Characteristics:

  • The post holder will have good interpersonal, organisational, negotiation and management skills and be able to work effectively with computerised systems.
  • He/she must be capable of achieving agreed objectives within time and resource constrains, and able to work with others to provide a client focused service.
  • Ability to make and express swift and sensible decisions in the response to enquiries, bearing in mind that these decisions may affect staff, students and internal or external Clients and the way they view the University
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to organise and prioritise his/her day's work. In the absence of the Senior Project Manager / Head of Capital Programme, he/she must be able to identify problems as they arise and act in a responsible manner
  • Ability to work on several concurrent projects and to tight time scales with a determination to deliver projects on time to the necessary quality, within budget and to the satisfaction of Users.
