Who we are

The BPP Professional Education Group is a global education provider delivering world-class professional qualifications.  The group delivers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes and professional qualifications across the UK, internationally and through innovative online learning platforms.

BPP University is the UK’s only university solely dedicated to business and the professions.  We are dedicated to preparing students for a professional career and our programmes are designed in partnership with employers and respected professionals in the fields of law, business, finance and health.

What you’ll do

You will provide a full range of careers guidance activities, including one to one support, workshops and presentations, to Law students.

You will provide key services at the BPP Bristol centre including but not limited to:

  • One-to-one appointments and drop-ins (in person and online)
  • Responding to emailed requests including quick queries and document reviews
  • A range of careers workshops and other activities, both within academic programmes and independently
  • Take a lead role on agreed development projects (Lead Responsibilities) and specialist initiatives, such as organisation of our Employability Award and Access to Practice scheme
  • Developing relationships with employers in order to create mentoring and placement opportunities, and involve them in employer talks, attendance at careers fairs and job vacancy advertisements
  • Promoting the service to potential students through open days, to current staff and students, and to employers
  • Involving tutors in mock interviews
  • Providing consultancy to academic colleagues in preparing their students for working life
  • Support from time to time careers provision at other centres (in agreement with line managers)
  • Assist in developing printed and online guides on a range of careers and employability issues, with a focus on Law students

Role Requirements

You will have experience of working within a Careers Service with Higher Education students or in careers guidance services or graduate recruitment, together with an understanding of the labour market aligned to the programmes undertaken by Law School students.  You will also have a clear understanding of the skills and attributes that support ‘career readiness’.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills in communicating with a range of stakeholders.

You will have excellent organisational and time management skills, experience of delivering services on a one-to-one basis as well as to groups, and proven ability of using your initiative and working under pressure.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

The post is part-time. Where one evening of work in a particular week is necessary, this will be taken as time off in lieu. A second evening in any week, or any work at the weekend, will be paid as overtime.
