About the role
The GDPR will be the biggest change in information management legislation in more than a decade, with far reaching implications to the way that Jisc and the sector, handle, process and manage personal data. At Jisc a GDPR working group has been established under the direction of the Head of Information Strategy, our data protection officer. An action plan has been drawn up but is clear that there isn’t enough existing resource to deliver key aspects of this action plan.
As Records Manager, you will work with the Head of Information Strategy and the GDPR working group to manage, develop and deliver key activities/projects within the GDPR programme. The completion the information asset project which underpins most the of steps to implement GDPR. This will be a combination of carrying out the survey work with the business, building the information asset register and supervising the work of the GI business analysts who are undertaking some of this survey work with three of the directorates
About you
In order to be successful, you will need:
- Considerable experience in leading on data protection implementation and managing the processes
- Experience in delivering information management practices including information lifecycle management, carrying out business audits and requirements gathering
- Experience of developing service processes around the implementation of GDPR and embedding an information asset register
- Experience of using cloud based applications, for example Salesforce, Office 365 and SharePoint
- Experience in the creation of relevant policies and guidance materials
- The ability to act as a subject matter expert on GDPR and information/records management best practice
You will also need to be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to extract information by questioning, active listening and interviewing
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to create clear requirements, specifications and documentation
- Strong ability to communicate embed information, business process and system wide changes to a technical and non-technical audience
- Ability to work on own initiative within agreed boundaries
- Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
