Job Purpose

To support researchers in the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR), perform data analysis, develop novel analytical approaches and carry out independent computer-based research on viruses and virus-host interactions. Typical data sets are from genome sequencing projects, including metagenomics and transcriptomics, or proteomics experiments.

The postholder will be involved in a range of virology projects spanning the research activities of the CVR and will work as an integral part of the Centre. Candidates with a background in bioinformatics, computer science, evolutionary, computational and systems biology, biostatistics and/or machine learning are encouraged to apply.

Standard Terms & Conditions

Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 6/7, £28,098 - £31,604/£34,520 - £38,833 per annum.

This position is full time and has funding until 31 March 2021.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.

All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
