We require a full time Research Associate maternity cover, with a strong interest and preferably some experience in working with ill children and young people. The post is based in a palliative care research team and involves carrying out research studies to improve the care of young people with advanced illnesses and their families. The Research Associate will be involved in studies dealing with the illness experience, decision making about care and treatment, pain and symptom management and service delivery. This post will be based at the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Department (MCPCRD), London within UCL Division of Psychiatry and will link with The Louis Dundas Centre for Children’s Palliative Care at the Institute of Child Health, UCL.
This is a full time post - 1 FTE, funded for five and a half months from 1st October 2017– 12 March 2018. We are also willing to recruit a part time person - 0.6 FTE, 21.9 hours per week, 3 days a week for nine months from 1st October 2017– 30 June 2018 if that is more suitable.
The successful applicant might have a background in psychology, social science, anthropology, nursing or another health related discipline. We are seeking a researcher with a mixed methods background, with greater strengths in either qualitative or quantitative research. The type of projects the post holder will work on will be chosen accordingly.
