The Department of Physics is undertaking a major, multi-year revision of its undergraduate pedagogy and curriculum with the goal of producing a truly superb undergraduate experience in physics. To support this project, the Department invites applications for the position of Professional Teaching Fellow, a teaching-focused academic role to support the delivery and further improvement of a two-semester calculus-based sequence of courses at Stage One. The courses are delivered in the SCALE-UP/Studio format which promotes active learning in an integrated lab/lecture/tutorial environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in physics, physics education, or a closely related field, and/or demonstrate significant experience with modern, research-informed approaches to university-level physics education, and will be familiar with the SCALE-UP/Studio teaching and learning environment.

The Department of Physics is part of the Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland; the Faculty is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand and is ranked among the 90 science facilities worldwide by the QS World University Rankings. 

This is a fixed-term position for the Southern Hemisphere 2018 academic year. The position will start early 2018 and finish December 2018.
