Detail information about job Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences - GAB0093-1. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Division of Biosciences sits within the Department of Life Sciences. It is a large and expanding Division, which currently includes students and staff located across two buildings, delivering undergraduate programmes in Biomedical Sciences and Environmental Sciences, as well as post graduate programmes in Environmental Management, Molecular Medicine and Cancer Research, and Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Design.

We are now seeking an ambitous lecturer to contribute to the well established BSc Biomedical Sciences and a proposed new MSc pogramme in disease mechansims and therapeutics.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Division of Biosciences to recruit a highly motivated academic to support the research strength and teaching capacity in the area of the Microbiome. The successful candidate will have a PhD and research experience, as well as experience of supervising research students, tutorials and practicals. You will have knowledge and experience in microbiome and/or infection, immunity and inflammation.

The post holder will also contribute to strengthening our research profile as we move towards the next Research Excellence Framework exercise. The post fits well with the College research strategy which involves the establishment, development and strengthening of new College Research Centres, of which the Centre for Disease Mechanism and Therapeutics is one.

We are proud of the exceptional development structure for early career academics at Brunel University London. Under Brunel’s Academic Life Cycle policy, the appointment to Lecturer will be subject to a two year probationary period (with associated reduction in teaching duties) followed by a two year development period. Subject to meeting probationary and development targets, the post holder will automatically be promoted to Senior Lecturer after four years.

We work hard to provide a supportive and positive environment and the Department of Life Sciences has recently been awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze Award. We are also a Disability Confident employer. The diversity of our staff adds greatly to this inclusive ethos, and we particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups.

Closing date for applications: Sunday 24th September 2017
