We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to fill the role of a part-time Assistant Librarian. Your duties will include supervising library assistants and helping customers with enquiries, both at the enquiry desk and through our live chat service. You will also be responsible for the library spaces, including health and safety, maintenance and security, during the evenings and weekend duties. Relevant experience in a customer service environment at supervisor level is desirable.
You will be based at our newly refurbished Wheatley Library, working 16.5 hours per week over 31 weeks per year. The pattern of work is Monday 14.00 - 21.00, another evening 17.00 - 21.00 (preferably Thursday) and Sunday 11.45 - 18.15.
You will be:
- Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of Library services (evenings and weekends)
- Supervising library assistants
- Taking responsibility for resolving problems and customer service issues
- Providing an enquiry and online chat service.
You should have:
- A recognised graduate level professional library qualification
- Experience of using electronic information sources
- Excellent customer care and communication skills
- Supervisory skills
- The ability to work independently without close supervision and to take appropriate initiative as required.
