Detail information about job Teacher of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Terms and conditions vacancy

South Kensington Campus

The Centre for Academic English (CfAE) is seeking to appoint two full-time teachers of English for Academic Purposes as part of the expansion of its EAP provision. The Centre is a busy and dynamic environment, providing academic English programmes to international staff and students at Imperial College London. This provision runs for 12 months of the year, with one of the busiest periods being between July and September.

The successful candidates will teach on the CfAE’s pre-sessional and in-sessional EAP programmes for STEM subjects. The post-holders will support colleagues in the design and development of courses, innovations in teaching materials and assessment tools, the evaluation of student work and student progress, and provide individual feedback to students to support their academic language and literacy development. They will also be expected to contribute to other CfAE activities such as College welcome events, and bespoke courses for students in specific departments, academic visitors and academic staff, as appropriate, and engage with the wider College community to promote and raise the profile of the work of the Centre.

Applicants should possess a postgraduate qualification in Applied Linguistics/TESOL/EAP or other relevant area and/or a recognized ELT/EAP teaching qualification (DELTA/PGCE TESOL or equivalent)

Recent experience in any of the following areas is desirable: working with STEM students, working with PhD students, developing e-materials, and developing EAP/ELT assessment items.

These permanent posts will ideally start in January or February 2018.
