The Cambridge Institute for Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Diseases (CITIID), which will open in 2018, will be home to a new CITIID Metabolomics Core Facility. This core facility will support research into human disease and will have a particular focus on immuno-metabolism. The facility will be part of the campus-wide Metabolomics Interest Group.

We are looking for a Senior Research Associate (Senior Scientist) with a strong track record in metabolomics to develop and run this core facility. The role will have both scientific and organizational components. A broad scope in a variety of different techniques and analytical methods across different mass spec platforms is expected. The post-holder will work with individual research groups and provide advice and assistance on the design and execution of bespoke experiments, including facilitating the development of novel assays and techniques. The post-holder will have responsibility for the development and management of the CITIID metabolomics facility in collaboration with the Department Academic Lead, which will include equipment purchases and maintenance contract negotiations with manufacturers and/or third-party suppliers. The post-holder will have overall responsibility for the budget of the Metabolomics Core facility and income generation/cost recovery.

Appointment to Senior Research Associate is subject to approval by the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine.

It is expected that the post-holder will hold a PhD (or equivalent) and pursue a programme of research alongside the management role, including the drafting of grant applications for research and resources.
