Job DescriptionThe European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Monterotondo near Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain).

The EMBL in Heidelberg, is looking for a Research Technician to join Dr. Arnaud Krebs’s group within the Genome Biology Unit. The group develops and applies genomics technologies to understand basic mechanisms regulating gene expression in higher eukaryotes. The group works in an interdisciplinary manner across divers projects, integrating experimental and computational biology approaches.

Primary responsibilities involve testing, developing and evaluating new tools, reagents and experimental protocols, in particular in the field of next generation sequencing and other high-throughput technologies. Additional tasks include general lab organization; management of lab stocks and resources; training new group members in protocols used in the laboratory; supporting lab members throughout their scientific projects.

Qualifications and ExperienceCandidates should be dynamic and motivated with a Bachelor, Master or a PhD degree in life science. Expertise in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and strong organizational skills are required. Prior experience with next generation sequencing is a plus. The successful candidate must be proficient in spoken and written English.
