An enthusiastic and able individual is sought for this part-time post as Research Assistant for the Primary Care Education Research Group. The position offers an excellent opportunity to undertake research in the field of primary care evidence synthesis, and to develop a career in academic research. The purpose of the post is to contribute to a multi-centre NIHR funded ‘evidence synthesis working group’. The post holder will be required to assist with searches and screening; retrieval of full texts; data extraction; and evidence synthesis including realist, rapid and implementation synthesis approaches. They will need to effectively use a range of software including eppi-reviewer, RevMan, word and excel packages. The post holder will also be required to travel to and attend collaborative joint working group meetings, and contribute to publication of findings in oral and written form.

The post is available for 24 months in the first instance at 50% FTE and is funded by the NIHR.

Applicants must have a degree or equivalent in a health-related or educational field as well as an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of major methodologies used within healthcare research. They must have a good working knowledge of bibliographic database and spread-sheet software along with knowledge and experience of quality appraising research publications.

Familiarity with general practice and primary care service re-design policies and research would be advantageous.
