Detail information about job Senior Researcher - Global Role. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest animal charities and the largest equine charity working internationally.

There are an estimated 50 million donkeys & mules worldwide. Most are working to support livelihoods in some of the poorest and most marginalized communities in the world and have a vital role to play in human survival. Many need care and protection from a life of suffering and neglect.

We currently work with partners in 33 countries reaching over 1 million donkeys and mules and our vision is to reach many more. The Donkey Sanctuary is working for a world where donkeys and mules live free form suffering, and their contribution to humanity is valued.

As part of this strategy we are looking to employ an experienced animal welfare scientist to support our global research projects.

Reporting to the Head of Research, your duties will include the production of scientific reports and evidence based cases studies alongside providing practical assistance to research projects globally.  You will possess a Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. animal science, biological sciences, zoology, veterinary sciences) together with an appropriate university degree, and an excellent working knowledge of the role of working donkeys and mules in a development context.  You will be able to work on your own initiative and will supervise and mentor students and team members when required.

Excellent analytical and research skills, with experience in the design and management of large scale, complex projects are essential, as is the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of research techniques and research approaches, and to synthesise quantitative data.

This is a full time, fixed term role starting as soon as possible until 30th September 2018.
