A post of Research Assistant is available in the Ocular Immunology laboratory (Saving Sight in Grampian laboratory) in the Institute of Medical Sciences. We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic research to work in the field of adaptive immunity. We are currently working with a range of in vitro and in vivo models of inflammation as applied to ocular diseases.

The duties of the post are to provide technical support to a range of projects involving animal handling/breeding, cell culture, molecular techniques, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and other methodologies. Training in these areas of expertise can be provided. Knowledge in the areas of in stock control, ordering and general lab management would be valuable.

The successful candidate will have a BSc (hons) or equivalent in the field of Immunology/Cell Biology and some experience in laboratory technique.

As this post is funded by Development Trust it will be offered initially for a period of 12 months. This appointment will be made subject to the usual terms and conditions of employment of the University.

Salary will be at point 24 on Grade 5 scale (£27,285 per annum).
