Detail information about job Research Associate in Epidemiology. Terms and conditions vacancy
We are expanding our team of epidemiologists and statisticians working on electronic health records and are therefore looking for an individual with a background in epidemiology, medical statistics or related disciplines to work on different epidemiological projects. Depending on skills, experience and expertise the post holder will work on data from primary care databases and other large clinical databases; prepare papers for submission to peer reviewed journals; organise and help provide workshops, training/teaching on courses and research days. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an interest in the topics of research and strong quantitative skills and a good understanding of epidemiological concepts. Candidates may also have opportunities to develop their own research ideas and build on these to develop an application for future post-doctoral funding.
The post is available for 20 months in the first instance and is based at the Research Department of Primary Care & Population Health on the Royal Free Campus (London, Hampstead).
Applicants must have a PhD in epidemiology or medical statistics as well as knowledge of quantitative research methods and epidemiological study design. Experience in providing epidemiological/statistical support for research is essential, as is experience in conducting successful research related to health care. Experience of conducting research on large clinical datasets (e.g. CPRD, HES or THIN) would be beneficial.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,809 - £31,432 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
