Location: Dubai (Following an initial induction which may include teaching on programmes in Birmingham post holders will be based full time in Dubai).

The University of Birmingham, School of Mechanical Engineering, is seeking to appoint three Dubai based Lecturer (Teaching focused) posts.

As a Lecturer you will make a substantial contribution to the management, development and delivery of teaching and assessment at all levels relating to Mechanical Engineering, including Engineering Mathematics, Fluid Engineering and Energy Transfer, Mechanics, Integrated Design Project, Introduction to Computing for Engineering and Engineering Materials, whilst enhancing the student experience and employability. Through excellent teaching you will inspire students, and be informed by discipline-based research as well as contribute to the management and administration of the Department in Dubai.

You will

  • Normally, hold a higher Degree (usually PhD) in a relevant Subject area or a closely related discipline or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
  • Be able to demonstrate extensive research/teaching experience and scholarship within subject specialism.
  • Have extensive experience and be able to demonstrate success in developing appropriate approaches to learning and teaching and advising colleagues
  • Have the understanding and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes.

All posts are based in Dubai. For the first few months of the appointment you will be seconded to the University of Birmingham Edgbaston campus in the UK for induction in preparation for delivering the Birmingham teaching experience in Dubai. Whilst on secondment you will be provided with accommodation and expenses.
