The Team
  
We have an opportunity to work with a well-known and highly respected property partner, Alan Paterson.  Alan is one of New Zealand’s most experienced property lawyers.  His experience spans all areas of property law.  He specializes in project development, forestry, commercial property leasing, subdivisions, infrastructure and overseas investment in property.  Examples of the calibre and significance of his recent work include:
  

• acting for New Forests (Australia) on a number of significant NZ forestry acquisitions;
• acting for Tegel Foods Limited on land acquisition and chicken farm developments;
• acting for Argosy Property Fund on commercial and industrial developments;
• advising Vector on property title, easement and encumbrance issues affecting its New Zealand network.
• acting for Ports of Auckland on its freight hub developments and general property issues.

You can be confident you will be given opportunities to take on responsibility but with the necessary guidance and support. The type and level of work will include researching, drafting, advising, negotiating and property transaction management.  At any time, your work opportunities could encompass property acquisitions, divestments, development and construction, subdivisions, leasing, title issues, Public Works Act issues, Overseas Investment Act approvals and day-to-day general property management advice.
You will also have the benefit of working within a broader commercial team of junior, intermediate and senior lawyers in the firm’s bespoke Britomart open plan office.

You
  
Ideally, you will have over 5 years quality property law experience or mixed property and commercial law experience.  You will be smart, preferably evidenced by a strong academic record and you may be:

• in a large firm looking for a more personal and flexible team environment while retaining a strong brand, excellent clients and work.  
• working in a smaller practice looking for greater stimulation, specialisation and career growth.
• looking for part time or flexible working options after parental leave, which the property team actively supports, or
• an energetic and ambitious 3 year lawyer who has an eye for an opportunity.

Regardless of your background, you will be achievement oriented, confident and convivial, have a service and results focus, along with an interest in the commercial property sector and business generally.
