Based in Auckland this role is focused on developing new business for Scenic Hotel Group, nationally and through the Pacific while working with our wider Commercial team to develop our new business platform and strategy.

This is not your typical sales orientated role, our new Business Development Manager will carry out tradition sales but also play a large role in developing and executing the marketing and distribution strategy for our corporate clients. The ideal applicant will have proven sales experience in the hospitality, tourism or services based industry; be an innovative leader with excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a busy team environment and predisposed to providing exceptionally high service levels.

 

Reporting to the Director of Commercial this role is responsible for seeking out new opportunities and representing the Scenic Hotel Group in the market nationally and internationally. We'll be asking our Business Development Manager to help develop the collateral associated with our new B2B program, develop strategic relationships with key industry bodies and generate "buzz" around the program, so your marketing skills will be tested. 

 

An understanding of modern distribution technology is crucial as you'll be asked to distribute rates through our booking engine, use this engine as the primary booking channel and assist with migrating clients onto this engine. Of course, you will be a natural salesperson able to generate new leads, pursue leads passed on by our support teams and Account Managers, all the while knocking on doors, negotiating rates and contracting new clients.

 

Our successful candidate will have:

  • experience in sales ideally in the hospitality or tourism fields, or a similar industry
  • be willing to take the plunge and learn new skills in the marketing space
  • the ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • be resourceful and be able to think on your feet
  • be proactive to get that deal done
  • be “entrepreneurial” in nature and think outside the box
  • be someone who can own the business program, nurture it and make it grow
  • strong networking skills for fostering industry relations and partnerships

 

This is a great opportunity to be directly involved in the growth of our business and work with a great team of like-minded individuals. All applicants must be business savvy, personable, highly organised, and IT competent with previous exposure to CRM systems.  Domestic and international travel will be required as well as a New Zealand drivers licence.
