We are seeking a dynamic, career minded person to become part of the Specialist Diabetes team.
Preference will be given to applicants who have proven experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist specifically in diabetes care, however, we also invite applications from candidates with lesser diabetes knowledge, skills and experience who have the drive, determination and passion to develop into a specialist role as we are open to negotiate this position into a training role for the right candidate.
The Specialist Diabetes service sits in the secondary care services at Whanganui Hospital and primarily provides clinical management for children and adults with Type 1 diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, children/youth with Type 2 diabetes, adults with Type 2 diabetes with complex co-morbidities, insulin pump therapy and clinical management of diabetes in the inpatient setting. The role also encompasses collaborative clinics with our primary care colleagues for the purposes of enhancing the confidence and clinical capability of diabetes management at the general practice level.
Educational and performance development requirements:
- AT a minimum will be actively working toward post graduate qualifications (Clinical Masters)
- Current PDRP
- Minimum of five years post registration experience
- Diabetes or RN prescribing would be advantageous
