Do you enjoy repairing and fabricating small and miniature mechanical items? Do you have formal mechanical and/or tool making experience? Would you be able to apply your experience to repair, refurbish and fabricate/manufacture surgical instruments? Then we want to hear from you. 

The Clinical Engineering Department provides a health technology consultancy and medical equipment maintenance support service to all departments across the organisation and we are a team of 24 professionals. 

Operating between Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Super Clinic, we are looking for Clinical Engineering Surgical Instrument Technician to join our dynamic team. Your primary function will be carry out a variety of clinical engineering functions which will include sharpening, refurbishing, repairing and fabricating surgical instruments and other theatre items across the Counties Manukau Health sites and to support other Clinical Engineering functions. 

This is a full time role operating from Monday to Friday and currently based at Middlemore Hospital.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a Diploma in Clinical Engineering (NZQA Level 6 or higher), Mechanical Engineering (NZQA Level 5 or higher) or Trade qualified toolmaker. You will also need previous service work experience either in Surgical Instrument experience or mechanical and tool making experience (5+ years) and be able and competent to use lathes-, welding-, grinding-, drilling-, sanding-, bead blasting-, and other equipment.
