Disability is no barrier to quality life and living. We have a position available for a versatile, capable and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team as a Chef/Cook at St John of God Karori, Wellington, a residential facility for people with physical disabilities aged 18 to 65.
The applicant should preferably have experience in the understanding of special diets and purees as recommended by dietitians and speech language therapists.
The applicant will be working closely with our support staff and residents and will be committed to providing meals of the highest possible standard and observe all health and safety requirements. They must have experience in food handling and preparation, and cook/chef qualifications, including Unit Standard 167.
The position is a permanent part-time role comprising approximately 27 hours per week covering Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Applicants must also be able to cover staff on leave.
We are looking for someone who will keep the kitchen clean at all times, be professional, reliable and hard working. They need to have a positive and friendly attitude towards residents, and be able to work independently.
They will need to have a clean driver’s license and good communication skills. They will also have a valid New Zealand work permit or be a New Zealand citizen.
