Voices of Children and Young People team, Tamariki Advocate group
- Open to internal and external applicants
We are looking for an experienced project manager to help establish an annual survey of experiences of children and young people in the care system. This is the first of its kind in New Zealand and is a key part of our new organisation’s commitment to put the needs and aspirations of children and young people at the centre of all we do.
If you are a senior researcher or experienced project manager with experience in leading complex research initiatives, this is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future for New Zealand’s most vulnerable children.
This is a 12 month fixed term role within the new Tamariki Advocate function of Oranga Tamariki.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead the planning and implementation of the new survey
- Manage the contract and relationship with survey providers
- Provide quality assurance and input to the survey content and delivery
- Coordinate engagement with advisors, including a range of experts and children and young people
- Plan and coordinate stakeholder communications.
Your background:
- Significant experience in social research
- Experience leading complex research projects
- Experience in managing contracts for research services
- A proven ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience working with children and young people would be desirable.
You will be someone who can work within a fast paced, complex, sometimes ambiguous environment. While you will pay close attention to detail, you will also have the ability to understand and respond to the environmental and organisational context.
You’ll be working closely with subject matter experts, including children and young people, contractors and suppliers under tight timeframes, so your excellent relationship management skills will be essential for success.
About us
The Tamariki Advocate group is charged with ensuring children’s and young people’s needs and aspirations are listened to and delivered on by Oranga Tamariki and the wider public sector. We play a key role in ensuring Oranga Tamariki becomes truly child-centred.
