What our role is

This role is within the Simultaneous Engineering Function, based in the Auckland Product Development Centre. Simultaneous Engineering work closely and collaboratively with Product Design functions using and developing Manufacturing knowledge, to help make design and manufacturing decisions for the final product.

You will spend your days:

  • Leading the creation of product manufacturing solutions, mainly new but also existing products
  • Working with product development Engineers to ensure that our part designs are able to be manufactured and assembled within known process capability limits
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on part and assemblies where they do not comply with process capability limits
  • Working with factory production engineers to ensure that new products introduction into the factory is as stream line as possible
  • Being the conduit between Product development and production
  • Leading and/or assisting with engineering trials in our factories across the world, commissioning and manufacturing support

Who you are

It's important to start with your practical ability; you have a minimum of 5 years' current production engineering experience and high level exposure with product design focusing on new product introduction. You're an experienced, degree/trade qualified production engineer; preferably with a background in white ware manufacturing. You will have previous experience with designing production fixtures and production assembly engineering solutions, with practical knowledge of PFMEA and Process Capability data application.

What you do have is superb communication skills, and you can work proactively and collaboratively with a range of key stakeholders to ensure product needs represent both manufacturing and assembly requirements for new parts and projects, within agreed time-frames.

A passion for the manufacturing and assembly process is a must, as an integral part of your role will be defining and sharing current, reusable knowledge of manufacturing and assembly requirements to our manufacturing sites and product development teams to strengthen internal capability. You also need to be proficient in using Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project. CAD skills will be an added advantage.
