About the Opportunity:

The role will include a mixture of business development, technical design, key client management, project delivery and design and team management, with the balance changing according to business need.

You will work with local project staff and the wider structures and water teams to ensure Calibre is providing the smooth day-to-day running of projects, developing concepts and solutions of value, responding to technical issues and queries of the business in the short, medium and longer term.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure engineering activities are performed in accordance with the project requirements and Calibre’s technical standards
• Understand tasks, deliverables and timescales with allocated resources
• Prepare preliminary and detailed designs, specifications and documentation for all projects
• Identify training gaps and facilitate training courses where applicable
• Actively promote and continuously communicate on the best engineering practices both in the project, the broader business and the marketplace
• Carry out efficient designs to current NZ Legislation, Standards, Approved Codes of Practice and Industry Best Practice etc
• Build and maintain relationships, both internally with immediate team, wider business and externally with peer groups and clients

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Tertiary qualification in engineering
• CPEng Status (or close to achieving this)
• Demonstrable experience in a Senior Engineer capacity including business opportunities in structural building & infrastructure markets
• Understanding of the structural building & water sector
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and leadership ability
• Ability to manage a portfolio of clients
• Proven project management skills
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong organisational and time management skills
