The Role

AECOM New Zealand’s Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team offers an unprecedented opportunity for leading Geotech Engineers and Engineering Geologists. The team has a strong workload and promising pipeline. Current projects in hand include many of Auckland most important infrastructure projects such as the City Rail Link Package 3 Stations and Tunnels Tender Design, the Supporting Growth Alliance and the AMETI Eastern Busway Detailed Design and consenting. The team continues to deliver projects critical to Auckland’s growth.  These include Central Interceptor for WaterCare, the City Rail Link Package 2 and the Additional Waitemata Harbour Crossing study. In addition to local work our NZ team supports our international projects with focus on Australia and the Pacific.

We are looking for a senior Geotechnical specialist to join our Auckland & Christchurch Geotechnical business in a Technical Director / Associate Director role. The role requires someone who has a strong technical ability, ability to win work and coach staff.

  • Work closely with the Ground Engineering and Tunnel business manager to deliver on strategic initiatives
  • Manage the delivery of complex Geotechnical design services
  • Be a Technical Advisor to clients both internal and external
  • Work closely with the bid team on key pursuits
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor staff and play an active role in business development
  • Develop, provide and promote geotechnical solutions, options and initiatives to meet client needs

 

About You

  • Chartered Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the Geotechnical field
  • Proven ability manage key relationships, lead teams and secure projects
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills 
  • Leader in your field with the ability to maintain and raise our market profile in the region

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ / Masters’ Degree in Civil Engineering
  • CPEng or equivalent
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NZ design codes and earthquake engineering practices
