We have an exciting opportunity for a Project and Asset Manager to join our team, based in Wellington and reporting to the National Field Capability Manager Central.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the delivery and operation of power and building services infrastructure assets within the Chorus portfolio.

This position proactively and reactively manages the portfolio of engineering assets to maximise their life and efficiency. The role is also responsible for the project & programme management and delivery of projects in line with the business plan, compliance and financial management of the assets and crisis preplanning.

As a Project and Asset Manager, some of the ways you will contribute;

  • Project manage the design and build of new engineering assets and upgrades
  • Manage risk to prevent network disruptions, near misses or non-compliance
  • Take responsibility for Capex and Opex budgets within the power and building services portfolio
  • Take ownership for the delivery and review of routine, reactive and planned maintenance programmes within the power and building services portfolio ensuring assets are proactively maintained to maximise their life and efficiency
  • Support Field Services and the wider Chorus business during network impacting events to minimise disruption to the network
  • Undertake all work in a safe manner and follow all company and workplace health and safety procedures

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • 6+ yrs experience mechanical or electrical engineering within telecommunications, critical environments or building services
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical
  • Strong commercial, financial and legal acumen
  • Strong communication skills including written communications
  • Knowledge of the Health & Safety Act, building codes, Commercial Construction Act, Electrical Regulations, Council Regulations, RMA
  • An analytical approach to problem solving with attention to detail
  • IT Proficiency - MS Office; intermediate to advanced excel; SAP, iTools
